Khantirme

The design of this unique piece of art is inspired by KHANTIRME Karabakh carpet, created in 19th century. Tirme is a cloth made of silk and wool. Khantirme, with its distinctive gentle buta ornaments, has been known as a precious gift presented only to respected and valued guests. “Buta” ornament has over 120 variations, such as “bala – buta” (buta with a baby), “shabalid buta” (chestnut buta), “almond buta”, “dancing buta” etc.

Every carpet weaving school has its own colors and interpretations of Buta ornament.

İn the traditional art and craftwork, Buta ornament represents the symbol of Tree of Life, the birth of new life, the beginning of new generation and creation of young family.
