Sumakh

The design of this tablecloth is inspired by Azerbaijani lint-free Sumakh carpet. The elements of this composition are widely used in Karabakh carpets. The motives and elements of Karabakh carpets have different variations, symbolizing the true energy of life, as well as the universe, and four seasons of the year. Hans Memling, the famous Dutch artist, was so passionate about that specific ornament, that he had started to use it in his own artworks. Many European artists followed his lead, using the same ornament, later known as “Memling Flower”.
