Holiday eve
New Festive Tablecloth is dedicated to the oldest national holiday of our people - Novruz. Novruz holiday is based on the people`s aspiration to unite, share and thrive. This holiday calls people to peace and prosperity and is recognized by UNESCO as an international holiday since 2010.
Novruz Tuesdays are celebrated as large family events. Water, Fire, Wind and Earth Tuesdays of Novruz represent the awakening of nature from a winter sleep when the snow melts and renews nature; Fire and the Earth are reborn; Wind opens tree buds on Novruz. Celebration of Novruz begins on the spring equinox when the lengths of day and night are equal. Novruz is a major celebration when bonfires (tonghal) are kindled; people of all ages gather and dance Yalli.
Symbolic mascots of Novruz are Kechal (the bald) and Kosa (the beardless). Kids visit houses and put their hats for a treat and hide (ritual called papagatdi). Young brides and daughters make special festive pilaf and decorate the festive tray called khoncha. We wish you wealth, health and prosperous life full of happiness and joy.
